Ada didn’t realize it, but the room wasn’t as busy as it was when she woke up. In fact, it was just her, Leon, and the man she had quickly learned was Chris. It felt awkward to not know exactly what was going on. The two men had excused themselves momentarily to talk. In private, they agreed that telling Ada everything would be a bad idea. Keeping her in the dark as long as possible was the only way they could keep her safe. The last thing they wanted was her running off, getting in touch with someone from the enemy, or something worse. Furthermore, it was imperative that they find out if Wesker was really dead. God forbid he was alive and out looking for his secret agent.

After their brief discussion, they returned to Ada’s hospital room. She was staring at her hands with a blank expression on her face. Leon almost thought that she was sad, but he quickly realized it was due to frustration. She could only think about and process what she had been told. She didn’t have the ability to reflect on anything else. Seeing her like that made him feel bad. It was him and his team that caused the explosion in the first place. If he had only known she was there...

“Ada. We were talking to the doctor in charge of you. He said that we can take you home in a few days. Until then, one of us will be with you around the clock. Your safety is the utmost priority right now,” Leon informed.

Ada nodded slowly. She wished that things would feel right or wrong. Could she really trust these people? How did she know that they were telling the truth? With her memory gone, she couldn’t afford not to trust them. No use in fighting when she had nowhere to go.

“Yeah. That’s fine. I’m not in any position to go anywhere any way. So, you and Chris will take turns then?” she asked.

Chris nodded. “Yep. Also, Jill and my sister Claire will be helping out. You look like you could fit in some of Jill’s civilian clothes, granted you’re a little taller. Anyway, I’ll be back in a bit, Leon. Gonna go check on the girls.”

Chris scooped up a duffel bag and slung it over his shoulder before exiting. Leon took a seat next to Ada’s bed and pulled a deck of cards from his pocket. “Let’s teach you a few games to pass the time, yeah?” he smiled.

He didn’t remember being pulled from the ruins of his home. He didn’t remember being dragged to an operating room where shrapnel, bullets, and other debris would be pulled out of him. However, he did remember waking up to the pain of being cut and stitched back together. It was a deep, burning and cutting pain that he had not felt in a long time.

Wesker couldn’t even remember the last time he was injured so badly. Surprisingly, trying to speak was extremely difficult for him. “A….Ada…” he hoarsely whispered.

Someone with a gloved hand pressed a finger against his lips. “Shh,” came a man’s voice. What he said next held a Russian accent, “The procedure is almost done. I’m afraid they did a number on you, Mr. Albert Wesker. Fortunately, due to “T”, you will make a full recovery. It will take longer than normal though. In the meantime, please try to rest.”

Wesker squinted his eyes as he tried to get a good look at the doctor. Who was this? He didn’t sound remotely familiar. He probably wanted something in return for helping the Tyrant. Regardless, Wesker would make sure that he would come out on top. In the meantime, he had to figure out where Ada was. This was all her fault, and she would need to pay dearly.

The pulling, prodding, and stitching continued for at least another hour before the doctor announced that he was done. He applied some ointment, and a few other men helped put Wesker in a much comfier bed to recover in. Wesker knew that this was not his facility or his men. He wasn’t in a position to fight, and straining himself could cause death. For now, he would play the game he was a part of.

The doctor was writing a few observations on his clipboard, occasionally glancing up to look at Wesker. “Ah. Earlier you mentioned Ada Wong? Your agent, I gather. She has quite the record, I’m surprised she decided to work for you of all people. The last my people could gather, she was with the Redfield party. Hopefully she is smart enough to keep her mouth shut about secrets which are not hers.”

“That’s none of your concern. As soon as I’m well enough, I plan on going after her personally. I can’t trust anyone else to get it right,” Wesker scowled. “Let her enjoy her freedom while she has it. In the meantime, care to explain who you are?”

“Yes, I’m Doctor Arseny Mikhailov. I’m the head scientist and medical officer of this fine establishment. We had caught whiff of the situation between you and the Redfield group. We found you before your own men did. Anyway, I believe a thank you is in order?”

Bold… Wesker thought to himself. “I’ll give my thanks when I can finally leave. Who is in charge? More importantly, what do you want?”

Dr. Mikhailov gave a small smile. “My boss is gone for now. He will be flying in very soon, though. In the meantime, we want you to relax and recover as quickly as possible. We will talk about details another day, Mr. Wesker.”
Hey there lovlies! I'm sorry this took so long to get to you. I've been bombarded with tests and papers as my semester slowly winds down to a close. Here's the first full chapter of my new story! I have already prewritten a few more, but I don't like the direction it was going, so I'm going to go back and change some of it. As for Simply Business, I probably won't get around to updating that until December. Sorry, it's just how it is right now.

Anyway, Capcom owns all characters, the idea is mine. I hope you enjoy it!
